Mysterious Archeological Discoveries On Earth

It’s a world of unceasing wonders, and archeological finds are just some constant reminders that there is so much more to be discovered about ancient Earth and its history and cultures. Here are some of the most mysterious archeological discoveries.



Atlantis City

Nothing much could probably be as mysterious as this lost city, where a strong tsunami is believed to have hit the area in 10 millennium BC. and sank it into the ocean. Based on ancient accounts, Atlantis was built by Poseidon, the god of sea, and it was situated somewhere in the Atlantic Ocean.




Great Pyramids

They come from many civilizations, but the Egyptian pyramids remain a collective mystery. They were erected as tombs to preserve royal bodies or mummies, and their walls feature beautiful carvings and paintings that hold the key to many compelling ancient tales.



Stonehenge

This prehistoric, 5,000-year-old monument, found in Salisbury in England, is composed of many large and small stones, and it was built sometime from 3000 B.C. to 2000 BC. Its actual purpose remains largely unknown.



Moai Statues

Located on Easter Islands in Chile, these iconic archeological discoveries were carved by ancient Rapa Nui people between 1300 and 1500 AD. They used rocks coming from dead volcanoes to carve the statues standing 13 feet and as heavy as 80 tons.

Terracotta Army

Hailed as one of the greatest existing funeral art, the Terracotta army boasts of thousands of clay soldiers buried near the tomb of Chinese emperor Qin Shi Huang. The ancient complex is believed to be about 2,200 years old, and is found to house different weapons along with the perfectly arranged clay figures.
